Most often retro pattern inspirations are linked with bold colors, complex designs and general design that is more over the top than underrated. While this refreshingly rich look mightn't work with every living room and any given theme, it does feel organic and urbane when done right. Try to introduce a few vintage chairs, a retro-styled table, plus possibly a cllasic decor item or two to accentuate the retro look. A completely retro-inspired living room can be a touch swamping, but therein lays its beauty!

You can pass after this design if you have an L-shaped divider or at least any kind of divider separating your living room from other spaces of the house. You can package in the divider with drywall and add an attractive wood top as shown in this picture. The divider can even be swapped by open shelving, railings, or possible with a built-in sofa. A couple of pots with flower and plant, table lamps, a ceiling fan, sectional, and a couple of sofas will do the rest for you.

But how does all of this translate into “sophisticated living?” For starters, you need living quarters that foster great character and motivate a healthy work ethic. For downtown apartments or lofts, such decor features couldn’t be any more ideal!

Pillow covers are a cool way to add a chevron pattern to the living space without having to commit to a more permanent or expensive addition. They are fun, can be swapped out when you are in the mood for solid colors and can be used along with other accent pillows to enhance the color scheme of the room.

While it is the lighter shades of gray that often accord you with the best background for bright yellow accents, deeper grays can also be used to make a warmer, more snug space. This technique works well in regions that are mainly cold throughout the year and during those chilly winters when the overall atmosphere of the room benefits from darker hues.
